This Czarist period brass samovar bowl was designed to sit below the samovar to prevent damage to the supporting table. It is very heavily made and was apparently stamped from a solid sheet of brass and then turned in a lathe as is evident on its sides and bottom. There are some relatively small dents in the base that might well be where the legs of the samovar sat. The piece is marked twice with the Russian Imperial Eagle and once with the date 1882 and again with the date 1896. It is further marked in Cyrillic with what might be the maker\'sname. It is 16\" in diameter and is 4\" in depth. It weighs 3 lbs. 5.5 oz. Other than the small dents in the base of the piece, it is in greatcondition.
