Russian Solid Silver Cup Bowl Trompe L’Oeil Birch Jug Marked Aleksey Osipov c1862 Moscow Assay Mark 84 zolotnicks.

Presented is stunning TrompeL’ Oeil Birch Jug Cream pitcher with marks for silverby Aleksey Osipov datemarked c1862 with the assay mark of Viktor Vasilyevich or Veniamin Vasilyevichof 84 zolotnicks fine silver. 84 Zolotnicks is 875 fine silver;American Standard Sterling silver is 925 so there is slightly less silver inthis alloy. This fantastically detailed piece has a great engraved looked of abirch wrap or finish with a light or partial gold wash around the rim and ininterior. It has no dents and only a minor ding on the bottom and only somelight scratches from gentle use and care with a scratched monogram or identifieron the bottom next to the mark; please see pictures. This is a beautifulhand-wrought piece painstakingly modeled for the eye. It is an excellent itemfor the collector of high art and antique silver.
