How do we ship:

We ship all packages with Japan Post (Registered Airmail).

Q 1: I really did not like the product, can my return still be acceptable?

Answer: If the product is brand new, unopened, unused and intact condition in original packaging and within the return period (30 days after receiving the product), we will accept the return. However, we will charge the handling charge (10% of the purchase price). And for cancellation, the shipping fee will not be refunded. We do apologize that after return period any return will not be acceptable.

Q 2: My purchased product has the manufacturing error, but the return period has been exceeded. Can I return the product for repairing within the warranty period?

Answer: We will still accept your return with in the warranty period for repairing from manufacturer. However, buyer must send the product at their cost. We will also charge the re-shipping fee.

OVERVIEW:

Of the three big Japanese pen brands Sailor is probably the least well known and in terms of sales volume. That said, Sailor is widely regarded as being the most innovative with regards to nib design and variety. The nib on today’s pen is a modest hard medium nib but the pen is still great and many collectors believe Sailor produces the best pens in Japan.

The 1911 or Profit line has rounded blind cap and finial and the Professional Gear Large series with a flat top and bottom and an anchor on the finial. Like all Sailor pens, the Pro Gear is sturdy and well-constructed. The acrylic feels substantial and the pen has some heft to it. The cap is snug and the clip fits well. The majority of Japanese pens feature a cartridge-converter filling system, and Sailor is no exception.

Sailor pens are known for their understated, classic designs and their high quality nibs. Every Sailor pen I have owned has written well out of the box, and this one is no exception. This pen is an excellent writer out of the box. The pen fit and finish is top notch. It’s not too heavy and not too light but balanced. The resin feels luxurious and well machined and the overall result is a pen that feels of substantially higher quality than that of an equally priced Platinum pilot or any other. The trim rings are tightly fitted and all the parts come together with a satisfying level of precision. The experience of writing with a pen you really, really enjoy can’t always easily be reduced to words and accurately expressed. My Sailor pens provide enjoyment that I don’t get with other pens that I like and use regularly. I always have one inked up; and for the most part, it’s a Pro Gear.

P.S: Converter not attached from the manufacturer

This pen has the converter filler and it does a great job of supplying a higher capacity of ink to the beautiful 21k nib. The ink view window is a real beauty and the main thing that drew me to the pen. I like that it can be seen when the pen is capped unlike some prominent German pen brands. It’s crystal clear and flanked with rhodium rings. The nib is really beautiful. Its a 21k Gold Rhodium dual tone nib with beautiful embellishment. It has an anchor and 1911 stamped on it–the founding year of Sailor. It seems a bit softer than steel. The tipping is smooth and the nib performs like a smooth feather. Sailor nibs have the perfect out-of-the-box performance.

Appearance & design:

The Large Professional Gear is definitely on the Largest side of the spectrum when dealing in modern fountain pens. If you wish to include vintage, then this pen lies right about in the middle. The Sailor Pro gear is right at home in a pocket where it takes up minimal room. When unposted, the pen is a bit too small to comfortably write with for me, but when posted it’s perfect. The pen is on the lighter side and it’s very well balanced. Only the lightest touch is required to lay ink down on the page, even from this extra fine Japanese nib. Pro gear comes in resin model with Gold or silver trim. It’s a classic looking fountain pen with all of the details that are to be expected on a larger and more expensive pen. There’s a double cap band with engraving, a stamped gold nib with beautiful detail work, metal internal threads inside the body, and much more. It’s a great looking and performing pen in a highly portable package.

Nib Performance & Filling System:

For a pen that lays down such an incredibly juicy line, it’s very smooth. There is no response from the nib. The nib puts ink on the page with no hesitation and minimal pressure. You can now count be in as part of the super fine Japanese nib. I really like how the nib looks too. The stamp / engraving on the nib is some of my favorite out there. I love the anchor and the scroll work. Also worth pointing out is that this pen/ink combo is my standard for writing in Field Notes. The filling system in the Sailor Pro gear is a standard cartridge/converter system. The nib has great “gas mileage” and a full converter lasted around two weeks. Many modern Japanese fountain pens use the cartridge/converter system.
