FABULOUS! Salvaged, antique bed footboard with a plethora of uses (wall panel, over the mantle, bed crown, pediment, etc.). French, Louis XV, Vernis Martin style with beautifully hand painted florals and large, courting couple scene. There is an abundance of raised, scrolled trim which is finished in the original gold leaf. The legs on the piece are substantial and add to the grandeur of the appearance/character of the footboard. The footboard dates to the 19th century. We have several matching pieces in separate listings (headboard panel, nightstands and bombe chest). Some of these pieces have French export stickers on them so we do know that this is an authentic French footboard. The footboard is a salvaged piece andit has not been retouched or refinished. Therefore, it does have an aged \"chippy\", shabby character. There are peeled areas to the gold leafing, chips in the painted finish, and there are age cracks and separations to the wood. The piece is structurally good. It can be refinished if you so choose, but, as it is presently, it has an incredible aged character. The colors are pale French green, cream and gold.

This is a substantialpiece which measures 74\" long, 26\" tall, and it contours to 7\" fromfront to back.
