This vintage Indian turquoise and mixed materials thunderbird necklace with white beads measuresapproximately 27-3/4\" in length and the thunderbird measures approximately 1-15/16\" across the wings by 2-3/16\" in height. Weighs 55.8 grams. These Santo Domingo items were made of found materials and were the first jewelry items for which the Santo Domingo Pueblo became well known. The red typically came from red plastic dinnerware or Dairy Queen spoons. Plastic from car batteries or old vinyl records was used for the backing. Very nice condition. Photos are not actual size.
