Description Avery niceantique Victorian solid sterling silver stamp case/holder decorated with attractiveembossedreeded decoration and with English silver hallmarks for Birmingham 1893.Lovely quality example with a hinged silver lid, and an interior sprung stamp plate. Fully gilt-lined and complete with its original silver bow, (ring).No engraved monograms or crests.
Measurements Measures 1.9 inches (47mm) (including bow) x 1.1 inches (27mm) and is 0.35 inches (9mm) deep.
Date AntiqueVictoriansolid sterling silver with a full set of English silver hallmarks for Birmingham 1893 (date letter "t").Marks slightly rubbed on the lid, but clear hallmark stamps on thestamp plate casing.
Maker Silversmiths initials unclear but possibly " S J S".
Condition Goodcondition, no splits or cracks, no solder repairs and no nasty knocks or dents either, just a few tiny shallow pin head dents on the lid. The lid hinge worksfine and the lid opens and closes ok. The sprung coin plate isinexcellent working order, and the interior gilding is beautiful and mostly all still intact. No added engraved monograms or crests.
