Offered for sale is a very nice example of the fairly hard to find cast iron \"Fire Chief\" coupe, manufactured by the Hoge Manufacturing Co. of New York, NY sometime in the early 1930\'s.The piece measures an impressive 14.5\" long and is in great condition for its age. It has the original \"Fire Chief\" sticker (one small piece missing), 80%+ of its original red and black paint, all 5 original Hoge tires, and its original tin grill/ headlight housing. It also still has the original wiring for the two headlights, and though it is connected to the headlights, it has been disconnected from the battery housing so I cannot determine if they are operable (if I knew how the wiring was connected, I\'d try to reinstall, but since I\'m no electrician, I\'ll leave it to new owner).There are no other issues that I can find: no breaks, cracks, repairs, or other damage, no repaint, and no replacement parts except for the windup key (it was lost somewhere along the line but a previous owner installed a substitute). The mechanism seems strong and works great: To operate, swing the front axle in the directiondesired, depress the \'brake\' at the back of the car, wind the key four or five turns, then release the brake and watch the car go as its siren blares.As is evident in the pictures, the piece displays beautifully, and would make a great addition to any collection.Please check all the photos: they are intended to supplement and add to the description and provide a better overall picture of the condition of the piece.
