Description: Up for sale is a set of 3 French Faience plates depicting scenes from the Comedie Francaise (French Theater). These splendid plates were made in France during the mid to late 1800\'s. They are a pottery with a faience glaze. The plates\' figures are in theatrical costumes and face masks. The borders have stylized flowers and scalloped edges. The plates are in shades of green, blue, and yellow.
Country of Origin: France
Maker: There is a mark on the bottom of one plate which is the Olerys mark, but it\'s a little confusing, because it says France. Olerys produced until the late 1700\'s, and this piece is not from that century. I am not sure if this plate is a Samson imitation or from some other factory.
Period: mid to late 19th C
Condition: The plate few fritters around the edges, and a little wear on the top. See pixs.
