LENS MATERIALS AND COLOURS

Lens Materials:Please note: The Sunglass Fix does not work with Glass lenses at the present time. Our Ultimate line of lenses is made from a premium lens medium called polyamide. It\'s similar in optical properties to Trivex and Glass lenses delivering exceptionally clear vision. However, It is 33%-50% the weight of glass, is shatter resistant, safer and easier to install.

Lens Colours: Ourlenses come in a wide range of colours. However, sunglass lenses are produced in manycolours and tint darkness combinations. We have tried to producethe most popular colours and tints and mirroring options. However, do not expect them to match your original lenses in colour or tint exactly especially if your lens colour is unique.

So Why Replace Your Sunglass Lenses?

  • They Keep Your Eyes Safe:Each pair provides 100% UV protection. Opt for our PC Polarized and High Clarity lenses and your lenses will be crafted from the same primary material used in bulletproof glass and safety goggles—how’s that for safe?

  • They\'ll Last (and last, and last...)We’ve put our lenses through the ringer because we know you’re going to, too. They’ve stood up to the steel wool abrasion test, ranking 300-500% higher than the competition. They don’t break. They resist scratching. They don’t give out. Take care of them and they’ll take care of you.
  • They\'ll save you big bucks:Those lenses we beat out in the durability tests? They can retail for more than $500 in stores. Don’t waste your money—our replacements are as affordable as they are high quality.
  • They\'re good for the Environment:One billion pairs of sunglasses are sold every year. Imagine one billion pairs being tossed? We don’t like to think about it either. Replace ‘em, don’t toss ‘em. Do your part for the earth—and for style.
Back to OverviewThe Sunglass fix is unable to insert video installation instructions on . However, links to video instructions will be emailed to you after ordering. You can also find them on YouTube by searching \"The Sunglass Fix Installation Instructions\" or visiting our website.INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Metal Framed SunglassesInstalling new sunglass replacement lenses in metal framed sunglasses falls into 2 categories:
  • Frames that have screws to loosen the frame to remove and install new lenses
  • Frames that do not have screws - See the plastic lens installation instructions as they are more applicable for these sorts of frames
  1. Loosen, do not remove the screws, usually on the underside of your frames that enclose the rim holding your lenses in place.
  2. 1 and 1/2 turns is usually enough to remove and replace the new lenses.
  3. Remove the lens out of the front of the sunglasses. Push from behind gently until they pop out. If they do not come out easily further loosen the screw 1 more turn.
  4. Once removed, insert the new lenses. They may be tighter than the original so work on getting the arm side in first then the top to the nose and leave the bottom nose are for last.
  5. Push the last remaining portion of the lens on the bottom nose side into the rim. You may need to bend the lens 1-2mm to get it under the rim.
  6. Pay careful attention not to scrape the edge of the lens on the rim so pulling out rim while pushing lens into place helps miminise this.
  7. Check all areas of lens to ensure they are in the rim before tightening.
  8. Retighten the screw.
  9. If available we suggest a small dab of clear nail polish on the screw head to hold it in place. It\'s not required but works well and allows for future removal of screw if required.

** please note: We always recommend working on a towel set on a table top. Avoid hard surfaces prevents screws from bouncing.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONSPlastic Framed Sunglasses
Lenses go in and out from the front, not the back.
  • Start with the widest top to bottom side of the lens. This is usually the outside, temple portion of the frame and insert the lens firmly into the rim groove.
  • Lay down the rest of the lens on the frame and as much as the lens into place so only the nose portion is left.
  • Holding the top and bottom rim with the thumb and index finger of both hands use your thumbs to push down the lens and snap it into the groove. This can take a bit of effort and if necessary slightly bending the lens and the frame to get them together is fine.
  • Check all grooves and lens line. The lens should be in the groove in all portions of the rim.
  • Bend your glasses slightly/twist the rim to ensure the lens stays firmly in place.

If you are still struggling to removing or installing your lenses
Please follow the instructions below:
  • Soak your frames in hot tap water or water. Add a drop of dish soap to the water and let your frames soak for 20 seconds.
  • Remove, quickly pat dry, and try to remove/install the lenses again.
  • Repeat above process a couple of times in the same water. The frames will get gradually looser as they slowly heat up.
  • As mentioned above, put the tallest top to bottom lens edge in the frame first and push around until only nose or outside temple is left. Push the nose/alternate edge in firmly and it should \"snap\" into place for a perfect fit. Do NOT go crazy with your pushing as you could break the frame but be firm.
  • If you are still struggling to get the lenses in, measure your current lens from top to bottom and across and compare it to the new ones. Don\'t overlay them as the angles make this inaccurate.
  • Email or call The Sunglass Fix to get your exact dimensions to ensure we didn\'t make a mistake. If the lenses are close to your originals in shape and size then please follow directions below. If the lenses are not within 1 mm then stop and contact The Sunglass Fix. It\'s possible a different model came out in your area or you have a different design than we stock.

If you are still struggling to remove or get the lenses in please contact us. We\'ll help!! Thanks

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONSClip-in Frames

Step 1: Install the clip on the outside lens into the arm side leaving the nose portion out.

Step 2: Bend lens slightly to get the nose portion into nose slot

Step 3: Push the lens in along the top portion of the rim so it snaps into place ensuring the nose and arm clips remain in their slots

Step 4: Inspect Lens and ensure no front bevels are showing along rim and that the lens fits in the rim area along the nose and arm portions in their designated slots. If so you are done. If they aren\'t try to push and adjust the lenses into position or carefully remove the lens and start over at step 1

Back to OverviewHow to identify the Brand, Model No or Name, and lens size of your favourite sunglasses

When searching on our site putting in less is better than more. We store replacement lens information at the model level which is usually the four numbers or name of your frame. We do not store all the subsequent number as those refer to all the frame and lens combinations the manufacturers use. Therefore, if you have a Ray Ban frame look for the RB#### number of the arm. Just type the #### numbers in the search engine and it will probably only display a few models along with their photos. Ensuring the lens width measurement is always very important. So find the two numbers usually preceding a small square or measure your sunglasses as instructed below to ensure you get the right lenses for your frames.

Many brands such as Persols, Pradas, and Ray Ban Sunglassses commonly use the same model number but make several different sizes. For example, the Ray Ban Aviator Large Metal sunglasses all have the model number of RB3025LM. However, they come in 3 sizes - 55mm, 58mm and 62mm wide.

So how to you determine which is the the size and model of your current frames? You can measure them at their widest point as the crow flies. However, with two to three millimeters difference it can be hard. Most sunglasses have a writing on the arms or under the nose bridge that should provide the required information. Additionally, the information may be on your original packaging. However, it\'s always best to check your frames we have seen many major department stores pack the sunglasses in the wrong boxes.

The Industry Standard and The Sunglass Fix measure lenses at the maximum with as the crow flies. Not along the curve of the lenses.
  1. The maximum width in Millimeters (convert inches by making into decimal and multiplying by 25.4) Example: 2 and 3/8\'s of an inch becomes 2,875 inches * 25.4 = 60mm
  2. As the crow flies, not along the curve of the lens
Manual Measurements using calipers or a ruler: Allow 1/2 to 2 mm for lens portion under rim.

As most of us know, we live in a disposable society. Most companies make it difficult and expensive to repair their products. We felt this was particularly evident in the sunglass industry where over a billion pairs of sunglasses are sold each year and getting your sunglasses repaired is expensive if not impossible. We have posted a couple of videos for our customers.

The first is from a group of saterical comedians in Australia. While factual based, they put a great, entertaining spin on corporate obsolescence.
