Shepard Fairey 50-pc Lot Early 1994 Press Kit W/ Signed Rare Art Print, Giant For Sale
SHEPARD FAIREY IS ONE OF THE WORLD'S MOST FAMOUS LIVING ARTISTS. Here is a collection of SHEPARD FAIREY items from an early artist's PRESS KIT he put together for himself during the early days of his illustrious career. These items were all sent to me directly by the artist back when I worked at a music magazine. I've saved them since then and now I am offering the whole lot for sale here today. This is a 50-PIECE LOT of SHEPARD FAIREY memorobilia & art including a signed print from 1993 and a thorough introduction to his "Andre the Giant Has a Posse" street art campaign which launched his career. It includes a SIGNED SILKSCREEN PRINT of his seminal Andre the Giant theme, a Jimi Hendrix style AG print from 1993. And a HAND-CUT unused Andre-face stencil & a KISS-influenced GIANT t-shirt. Plus some postcards and some press clippings, along with his early artist manifesto entitled "A SOCIAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL EXPLANATION OF ANDRE THE GIANT HAS A POSSE". Included in this lot:-ANDRE THE GIANT "JIMI HENDRIX" silkscreen print SIGNED & DATED 1993 by artist Shepard Fairey -ANDRE FACE STENCIL which was pencil-drawn and hand-cut, rubberstamped with "ALTERNATE GRAPHICS" info. -"KISS" style GIANT black t-shirt, size large, never worn. -A BUNCH OF STICKERS!! 8 different kinds, all AG. -UNCUT SHEET of 12-up of the original "AG has a POSSE" design that started it all. -POSTCARDS, many designs, some one-of-a-kind. Glow-in-the-dark Andre. Black-on-black Andre. Jimi. Glow-in-the-dark on SKULL! Some of the postcards are silkscreened, some are xerox. -FLYERS offering different types of prints & wallpaper & stickers for sale. -"ALTERNATE GRAPHICS" MAIL ORDER CATALOG. 24-pages, black & white, showing all the t-shirts & stickers & art he had for sale back in 1994. This is an important early collection of ART & MEMROBILIA from early in the career of this great, prolific artist. Before there was OBEY and HOPE, there was this: AG. WORLD CLASS PROPAGANDA ART straight from the streets of Providence, RI. I am starting this sale at a reasonable opening offer of $99 because I have no idea what it is actually worth but would like to see if there's any genuine interest in this batch. oh wow! so glad to see so many people excited about this sale :) hey I just remembered, I have one more item to include in this lot to make it even better: a rare old issue of CAKE magazine. I xeroxed some of these AG stickers and used them for a page of "wallpaper" in the magazine in 1994. (I have a few issues of the old CAKE that I'll be offering for sale soon.) people are asking about the condition of the "Andre Hendrix" print here and I'll say it is NOT in mint condition. the image area is clean and flat and looks excellent. but the print has been handled over the years and the corners & margins have some little dings. the back side is clean with no creases. i posted some pics so you can get a better view of the edges in this flickr set here: <a >Andre print corner conditions flickr set</a>
