Fine Meiji Japanese CloisonneBasse Taille Jippo Enamelled Solid Silver Vase.

Provenance: Japan.

Age: Meiji Period (C.1868 - 1912).

Size: The vase measures 9.5cm in height (3 3/4\" high) X 5cm in width.

Artist/signature: Signed \"Kawaguchi Bunzaemon\" impressed into to the silver base.

Condition: The vase has some spider cracks running up from the base, which have tarnished beneath. NO chipped, dented or missing enamel.

Comments: A fine and rare Meiji Japanese Wired Cloisonne Vase by the artist Kawaguchi Bunzaemon. The vase is decorated with two Koi Fish swimming in shallow waters. The fish are applied in lowrelief Ginbari Enamels, using the technique known asBasse Taille. The enamels are vibrantly coloured and areapplied on a solid silver body.
