SILVER TORAH CROWN PALESTINE HADAD JUDAICA SYNAGOGUE Bezalel Academy Jewish Art

You are offerding on a antique Kesser Torah crown made to decorate our Holy Torah. While this is an old crown, it can still be donated by anyone to their local Synagogue. This crown was dedicated in 1944 to a Synagogue in Jerusalem (then part of fictitious Palestine). I purchased it from the ownerandhad it cleaned and look like new as it is today. There\'s a silver sign stamp stating that it\'s 925 STERLING.

A bit about the design. There\'s no identifying hallmark to this piece. I have seen the same design as this crown in more recent crowns from the 1960s and 1970s. I located the original artisans as coming from the Haddad silversmiths located right outside of Jerusalem who have been in business for over 50 years. I therefore assume that this is one of their early Tora crown creations.

The designs found on this crown are leaves and Star of David\'s. There\'s one large crown and then a smaller one on top of that with a bell in the center. There are 7 bells to the bottom larger crown + another bell in the center as well. These bells are original to the Keter, and I believe they too are made from either silver or white gold. There are also 2 sockets in the center of the crown to put the Torah scroll through them. There\'s a dedication on the bottom of the crown giving the date of the donation in 1944.

DIMENSION & WEIGHT:

The circumference on the bottom of the Kesser is a little of 6.5 inches (16cm). The crown weighs 880 grams.

CONDITION:

The condition of this Keter is very good. Some of the bottom is a bit bent, easily fixed. Buy it and donate it to a Synagogue of your choice or have it donated to some Jewish Museum as an example of Jewish Palestine art! Good luck!
