Small early 19th century linen and wool work sampler by Jane Shaw aged ten - 1830. This little sampler is just delightful. The top half of the linen is stitched with rows of alphabet letters, numbers and border patterns with Jane\'s details beneath Jane Shaw Aged 10 Years in the year of our Lord 1830\". The bottom half of the linen is stitched with a charming little house with railings, a gate, a tree and a floral urn to the left and a fruit tree to the right with a man and his dog beneath and birds perched in its branches. Two birds fly above the roof of the house.The linen has overall discolouration consistent with its age with areas of staining as can be seen on the photographs. The colours of the wool are good with some missing stitch work. The last photo is of the reverse of the sampler and shows how the colours would have looked when Jane first stitched it.
