Description:

This is a smallsterling silver cigarette case that hasbeen hallmarked on both halves inBirminghamduring 1917. It features a period monogram front centre as pictured.

The casemeasures approximately6cmby 8.4cm by about 10mm thick(when closed) and on my electronicscales itweighs in at 1.83 ounces (52.0g).

The casehas thetypical age related surface scuffs and scratches that all silver objects attract over the years plus a lots of little dents, dents,creases and depressions around the outerbodywork dueto age and use.There is almost a tiny split in the silver beneath the monogram but it hasn\'t quite gone through. I have pictured and indicated this clearly above so that you can make a judgement.

The clasp and hinged lid hinge are both inworking order. Both of the original elastic cigarette retainers are still present but they are not really serviceable and may need to be replaced depending on how you plan to use the case.The easiest way to replace theseis to swap some new onesover from a cheap modern metal case.

The case woulddefinitely benefit from a sustained polishto restoreformer glory.
