LOVELY ANTIQUESHAHSAVAN TRIBALSUMAK SADDLEBAG (Khorjin) FACE, Khamseh or Moghan, 2nd half of the 19th century, and it comes inperfect original conditionfor the collector. The exact size is:1\'-11\" x 2\'-0\" (59 x 61cm).A beautiful sumak saddlebag face with a plethora of richly saturated natural dyes and coming in near-mint original condition.Note that this exampleis unusually woven whereby the weaver left long strands of wool on the reverse, giving a colorfully kaleidoscopic art presentation in and of itself when displayed this way (see photo 11). The side cord over-castings and the top and bottom endings are all original and complete. NO rips, holes, tears, repairs, moth damage, stains, odor, stiffness, color fade or bleeding.It is quite rare tofinda Shahsavan sumak bagwith this \"honeycomb\", diamond-grid, field design combined with\"spanner\" shaped center motifs and all so nicely framed with three main border surrounds of equal size. Thissmall masterpiece of design and colorstill retainsits original flat-weave loop closure devices at the top. This bag face is clean and collection ready. It makes for a stunningly visual display as a small tribal textile art wall hanging.
