This jaw-droppingItalian bowl is the epitomy of the master Murano tradition of centuries of the world\'s finest glassartists!Attributed to the great Fratelli Toso glasshouseof 1950\'s Murano Island in Venice Bay, Italy.This very special bowl is so artistically created in a sophisticated pinwheel pattern--ribbons ofdark latticino spiralalternatingwith twin gold aventurine strands (pure metallic gold dust) that in turn are spiraling within an unusualwhitezanfirico pattern that shows the sparkle of gold prominantly through intermittent \'windows\' in the pattern.It is a captivatingand complexcombination, as you\'ll seein the photos--and the closer you look the more mind-blowing you\'ll find the beauty! The finishing step in the creation of this incredible piece is athick, clear cased (sommerso) layer that contributessubstantially to the piece\'soverall robust nature (and2½-poundweight)! Texturally, the bowl or ashtray is hand-finished--while the glass is still hot--with a smartly scalloped edge, a Fratelli Toso trademark effect, as well as a resting spot--for spoon, cigar or whathaveyou--on either end.The base isground-flat,polishedand shows little fine shelf-wear from over 50-years of gentleservice.Pontil area was ground-concave to achieve total smoothness throughout.This was difficult to accurately photograph, so the photos do not do justice to this amazing piece! The sparkle of the gold was the most difficult to capture. The piece has much more golden twinkle than you see here.Certainly an excellent addition to any art glass collection, or a thoughtful gift for a very special person--including yourself!

Any natural indentations, bubbles, carbon inclusions, tool marks and/or any other natural textural features are all original to this piece and normal for hand blown glass. Fratelli Toso

Antica Vetreria Fratelli Toso is a traditional Murano glass factory since 1854. Fratelli Toso has always been one of the best in murrina production; indeed our collection includes some of the most beautiful examples of murrina vases in Murano. The value of our collection is made up by antique and original murrina used, impressive design and glass masters\' craftsmanship. We do work with museums, important collectors and sale houses worldwide. Arnoldo comes directly from Toso brothers who started up the factory in 1854. He is in the family business since the \'50s and from 1981 he runs Antica Vetreria Fratelli Toso by himself. From that moment on he has successfully managed Fratelli Toso glass collection.
