This is astunning mid 19th century gothic walnut wood carving of a winged gargoyle. Dating c.1860\'s.
Excellent attention to carved detail on this outstanding gothic winged gargoyle. All carving in fine and intricate relief. The gargoyle has incredible carved facial detail with hooded eyes and a sharp beaked with open mouth. The gargoyle has long, gothic wings and superbly carved claws. It is free standing as images confirm. This carving oozes quality.
Measures some 12.5\" height x 5.5\" max depth at the bottom of the carving..
Excellent and beautiful condition. I hesitate to describe any antique carving as perfect but the condition is quite wonderful! There are two small round screw holes either side of the clawed feet. These are original to the carving. All as per images.
