STUNNING ANTIQUE FRENCH C19th LARGE TERRACOTTA YELLOW GLAZED CRUCHE CONFIT POT:

This is a stunning and large traditional antique French stoneware cruche or confit pot dating to the 19th century. It has a vibrant yellow glaze to the upper half which is a colour particular to the south-west region of France. The lower part of the pot is natural terracotta. It has a carrying handle on either side and the glaze is good with some nibbles at the rim and some missing flakes commensurate with its age and use.-see photos. These cruches were originally made for use as storage pots and now can make wonderful, and useful, decorative additions for a French style cuisine. It stands just over 10 & 3/4ins ins high, is 10ins across the handles and the rim is 7 ins across. It weighs a splendid 4 kilos. This antique French cruche confit pot is full of rustic character and French farmhouse charm.
