THIS LOCKET IS OF VERY GENEROUS PREPORTIONS, A REAL ‘EYE CATCHING’ ITEM OF ANTIQUE JEWELLERY (See 5 Pence and US quarter set in inset picture for comparisons).

The front of the locket has a raised central area, this is beautifully engraved with a floral bouquet to the centre having a geometric patterned surrunds. The raised cental area is boardered at a lower level with more geometric patterning. The sides of the locket has chevron patterning. There\'s an articulating \'blown\' saddle bail top, this has an aperture of 4.8 mm.
The reverse of the locket follows the same format although the raised central area is a different design. There\'s a vacant shield shaped cartouche below the floral design here, this is surrounded with different geometric patterning.
This locket is a lovely mellow rose gold found in jewellery items from this Victorian period (not today\'sbrash pinkrose gold). This particular locket has no gold markings but we have carefully ‘check tested’ the piece and confirm it is \'9ct Gold Back & Front\' category.
(9ct Back & Front is a locket category where the front and back panels are of solid 9ct gold, and check tested here, the internal frame and rims are not gold. This method of construction was used primarily to achieve greater strength and durability of the locket).
Yes, this locket is in excellent condition, no dints, indents, bumps or scratches, indeed no blemishes at all. CRISP bright cut engraved throughout.
