This is a quite stunning wooden oak carving with the hunting relief carvings including the hanging rabbit, game bird, hunting horn, poachers bag, oak leaves & other of which:
During our research we have been informed itcertainlydates from the mid 19th century.
Dates about c1860s.
Of a black forest origin.
A large wooden oak carving with the relief carvings of:
the hanging rabbit, trussed up by its foot.
The game bird, again hanging by its foot.
Both with intricate detail.
Centrally: the circular hunting horn with the carved tassels to the base and twine decoration to the top.
Poachers bag to the bottom with its intricate detail and carvings.
To the top: the carved oak leaves with centrally at the top, the wooden post with the twine or rope which the hanging game hang from.
Intricate relief carvings with its superb detail.
The carving has an overall sizeof about 17 x 12.5inches.
Max depth of about 2.5inches.
Central open dia of the hunting horn of 4.75inches.
Condition: Considering the age, the overall conditionis excellent andisnot subject to:
any major blemishes except:
minor chipping with: the loss of a foot of the rabbit with a chipped ear.
the game bird has the loss of a foot with minor chipping to the rear wing with a repair to same.
Chipping to the end of the leaves of the reeds by the rabbit.
Chipping to the edges of the oak leaves.
