This is a superb pair of large majolica grotesque wally birds, vases with the original glass eyes ofwhich:

During our research we have been informed they certainly date from the 19th century.

Date about c1870s.

of a European origin.

A very large pair of Majolica grotesque wally birds with their wonderful decoration and blue colouring.

Each having original glass eyes.

Intricate bodies with the wonderful detailing.

Each portrayed with open mouths, used for vases.

Mounted onto the circular decorative bases.

Each has an overall height of about 15inches.

Base dias of about 5.75inches.

Condition: Considering the age, the overall condition to both is very good.

one is subject to early restoration to the top of the beak.

both due to age have minor grazing and nibbles to the blue glaze.
