This is a superb pair of large Staffordshire figures of Queen Victoria& Prince Albertofwhich:

During our research we have been informed it certainly dates from the mid 19th century.

Dates c1860s.

Feature in the Staffordshire Portrait Figures by P.D. Gordon Pugh, known as the Staffordshire bible for figures.

Of an english origin and from the well sought Staffordshire factory of SampsonSmith.

Pottery.

A superb portrayal of the pair of large figures:

Gilt text to the bases of both.

Queen of England & Prince of Wales.

Queen Victoria with the crossed hands in full regal attire, standing crowned, with veil, ermine-edged cloak, multi-flounced skirt and garter sash.

Prince Albert, standing bearded and bare headed, in military uniform in trousers, with left arm on a draped pedestal.

Each has an overall height of about 18 & 17.75inches.

Each havingan overall base sizeof about 7.5 x 5.75 & 7 x 5inches.

Condition: Considering the age, the overall condition is excellent to both and are not subject to any major blemishes except:

Graze to the nose of Queen Victoria with a small chip to a sleeve at the front.

Prince Albert has a firing crack to the higher arm following the moulding line from time of manufacture.

Minor areas of loss of colouring and rubbing to the gilt with:

due to age: overall fine crazing.
