Selling here is a superb late 18th century Chinese snuff bottle dating to the end of the Qianlong period,(1735-1796). The flattened ovoid body is of archaic form, carved from beautifully figured agate suffused with natural darker markings, the sides with animal masks supporting pendant ring handles, the oval foot rim shaped with a shallow recess. An interesting snuff bottle of quite unusual shape, well hollowed and of very elegant proportions.Height: 6.5cm.Provenance. From the private collection of Sir John Mann, (KBE, MA), (1863-1955) collected c.1920 and thence by descent.This snuff bottle has been personally appraised by Robert Hall of London, who confirmed it belongs to the Qianlong period.All items are guaranteed to be genuine and as described.
