This is a superb Swansea Creamware botanical dish of which:

during our research:

Dates from the 18th century, dating about c1800.

Two of three being listed.

Swansea botanical creamware dish, probably, hand decorated by:

Thomas Pardoe at the Cambrian Pottery, Swansea .

He worked there from c1795-1809. He was influenced by Dillwyn who was a botanist and the coloured engravings from Curtis\'s Botanical Magazine.

To the rear: script of: Shining Lionred Justicia.

Hand decoration to the dish centrally of the Justicia with it\'s wonderful colours.

Dark brown rim.

Wonderful shape withan overall height of about 1.25inches.

Max overall size of about 9.75 x 7.25inches.

Base size of about 6.25 x 4.5inches.

Condition, considering the age, the overall condition is good with:

a hairline crack that is to the base edge travelling to the leaf decorated of the dish and to the script at the rear.

loss of colour to the rim.

Due to age: age staining with overall fine crazing.

All as per pictures.

Besides being a collectable, Welsh Pottery, Swansea creamware botanical dish with the hand decorated, Shining Lionred Justicia, by Thomas Pardoe, c1800, would also look fabulous displayed.
