This is a superb oil painting of Holy Cross Abbey, Tipperary by Annie S. Ormsby ofwhich:

During our research we have been informed it certainly dates from the period of the late 18th century.

Dates about c1790s.

Certainly of an irish origin.

To the rear: a wealth of somebodies research from the period of the 19th century which begins with:

Oil painting by Annie S Ormsby of Holy Cross Abbey, which was presented by Cromwell with seventeen other estates in Tipperaryto Thomas Lampkin formely of Parkstown and Macareby Castle, the pedigree names thus.....

somebody has traced the family tree with a date of c1838 towards the centre..

A quite superb portrayal of the Irish Abbey by the female artist.

To the front of the abbey in the foreground is the river Suir.

Mounted in a decorative gilt frame which has anoverall size of about 19.75 x 16.75inches.

Max depth of about 2inches.

Viewing size of the oil painting of about 11.5 x 8.5inches.

Condition: Considering the age, the overall condition to the painting is excellent and is not subject to:

any major blemishes.

The frame is certainly subject to areas of chipping, mainly to the bottom.
