SUPERB ANTIQUE FRENCH HAMMERED COPPER CHOCOLATE POT IRON HANDLE RARE DOVETAILS:
$205.49

Hello & Welcome to My sales!

I am a mom, dentist and lover of antique copper cookware & kitchenalia! While shopping for pieces to add to my own collection, I often have the pleasure of finding beautiful pieces to share with all of you! As much as I would like to keep all of these sparkling treasures for myself, I simply cannot.I usually have several gorgeous pieces for sale, most come directly from France and England.

I am committed to offering unique, high-quality items and strive to provide each of you with an exceptional experience. This experience begins at the moment that you \"click\" on my listing. I do my best to include 12 clear pictures in every listing, accompanied by thorough and accurate descriptions. In fact, some (most) of my descriptions turn into mini-novels.I will apologize in advance for my long, rambling and overly-enthusiastic descriptions.

Please keep in mind that many of these pieces are very old. We should not expect perfection from a 200 year old cooking vessel.Although it may be tempting to skip afew sections of the listing, please view all12pictures and read each item\'s entire description, prior to offerding. If not, you might miss some very important details or images.
I realize that copper cookware is a considerable investment.I will be more than happy to provide you with additional pictures or answer any questions that you may have.

Your new copper goodies will be carefully packaged and promptly shipped, most within 24 hours of payment.I ALWAYS COMBINE SHIPPING- see special payment instructions at the end of the listing for combined shipping options.

I sincerely want you to bethrilled with your purchases! Receiving your new copper cookware should bring joy andexcitement! If any item that you purchase from me is not what you expected or you areunsatisfied in any way, please contact meimmediately. I have a very relaxed return policy, most likely because my items are rarely returned. If you\'re not happy, just send it back! No worries!

While I definitely have a friendly \"no problem\" attitude toward accepting a return and issuing a full refund, my attitude toward individuals who leave negative or neutral response, without first informing me of a problem, isanything butfriendly. In fact, I do not think that should allow buyers to submit negative response without first contacting the seller. This policy is very unfair and should be revised. Thankfully, this has only happen to me 2 times in more than 10 years and 3,500 transactions. Still, I was furious both times and bothindividuals have beenblockedfrom offerding on my sales for eternity- ha ha!Seriously- don\'t leave damaging response for any seller, if youhaven\'tfirst communicatedyour concerns. It is simply mean and unreasonable.

If you would like to be notified when my new items arrive, simply add me to your favorites!

I would like to close with a word of warning:

Copper fever is amost beautiful nightmare. To the best of my knowledge, there is no cure.Like many of us,you have most likely been bitten by the copper bug.

Welcome to our world... you are in good company!

Thank you and Many Blessings,

Kelly

For sale is a Magnificent Antique Hammered Copper Chocolate Pot from France!

This gorgeous hammered copper chocolate pot is in excellent antique condition! If you have been searching for a piece like this, you most likely know that they are few & far between! I purchased this piece directly from France and have owned it for several years. I sold a similar piece a few weeks ago. At that time, I thought that I only had two French copper chocolate pots-my own and one extra piece. However, while we were packing to move to our new \"temporary\" home, I was very happy to find another one tucked away in my cabinet! I am certain that this is the last \"extra\" chocolate pot that I have and it is up for grabs!

Moving on...

These little pots are absolutely charming! Most are very old. Some date back to the 1700\'s, possibly earlier than that. From what I have read, theSpanish have been credited with creating thefirst \"hot chocolate\" -GRACIAS!!! Thisdelicious new treat eventually made its way from Spain to France. Apparently, King Louis XIV and his court were wild about hot chocolate and it quickly became extremely popular throughout France. Ms. Virgina Tuttle\'s website can provide you with more information about a variety of antique beverage warmers, as well as pictures of some of the most gorgeous copper cookware that you will ever see. Here is a link, if you would like to take a explained by Ms. Tuttle, chocolate wafers would be placed in the pot, along with some sugar. Next, boiling mild would be poured into the pot. A woodenstirrer called amolinilloin Spanish, or a moulinet or moussoir in French, would then be inserted through the hole in the lid and the mixture would be stirred/swizzled. (If you have never seen a molinillo, moulinet or moussoir, please just look it up. Seeing it with your own eyes will provide a much better understanding than I can achieve with words.)

Now that you are familiar with the wooden stirring stick, I will move on to the specifics about this piece. As you can see in the pictures, this particular chocolate pot does not come with a molinillo/moulinet/moussoir. I havephotographedit with antique wooden spoon, to demonstrate the technique. If you would like to have this old spoon, I will be happy to include it. You could most likely use it in the same fashion, with more of a \"paddle\" effect. You can also buy a replacement moulinet online.

More about thischocolate pot...

This is clearly ahand-crafted piece. I love its pot belly shape and beautiful wrought iron handle! The pot comes with itsoriginal lid and has fabulous dovetail seams-still watertight after 200-ish years on theplanet! The craftsmanship is superb!

I cannot tell you this pot\'s specific age, but it is very old. I have seen similar pieces that were described as 18th century. In fact, I think there is one listed in the UK right now. It does have a few minor dings, but really looks amazing for its age and miles traveled!

Exterior Condition:

The exterior copper has a wonderful shine and rich copper glow! The hammered copper reflects the light beautifully!

As you would expect, there are some minor cosmetic blemishes and areas of patina, but there is nothing major to report. In my opinion, these tiny imperfections only add to its charm!

Structural Condition:

This piece is structurally sound.

It has a wide base for extra stability and sits flat without tipping.

Again, the pot is watertight.

As previously stated, there are some minor dings to be noted- see pictures, but they are very small.

The symmetry is very good, especially for ahand-hammered piece of this age.

The lid is in good condition, but the copper has thinned a bit around the bottom edge and there a few jagged spots- see picture #12. This does not interfere with the fit or seal. The lid is fits tightly and the seal is excellent!

Thewrought iron handle is in good condition and is firmly attached by solid copperrivets. I love its rustic flange and pretty scrolled hanging hook!

Interior Condition:

The interior surfaces of the pot have been lined with tin. The lining looks really good for its age, but it has discolored over time-see picture #12.

There is a bit of tin loss around the upper rim and the interior handle bracket has not been covered with tin.

The interior surfaces of the lid have not been lined.

I think this piece should be re-tinned prior to use. Considering its size, a new tin lining should be very affordable and would be an excellent MEASUREMENTS:

6.5\" total height

5.5\" handle length

3.75\" base diameter

Weight is approximately 1 pound
