Please scroll down below description for more pictures.This quirky antique French La Poste postal bag dates from around the 1930s.
Made of strong unbleached linen it has wonderful labels attached and would make a superb decorative piece.
You could attach a handle and it would make a wonderful and unique bag and it could also be filled for a cushion too.
It has two fine leather bands attached at the centre and the bottom edge has eyelets.
The larger front is on an early celluloid plastic and carries the address of Monsieur Jean Frenoy.
Below is an instructional tag regarding the return of the bag.
Inside is another sepai hand written label of Madame Frenoy.
The zip is siezed and I am not going to force it - possibly it could be worked free. It is unsual as it has two pull tabs - one inner and one outer.
The bag measures:
36cms x 30cms
I wonder just what it was that Madame Frenoy posted to Monsieur Frenoy!!
An unusual and unique linen piece.
