Dating from the late 1800s this is a superb antique French ciel de lit, bed canopy, bed couronne that would be perfect for any belle chateau boudoir project.
It would be wonderful above a double bed, single bed, day bed or even above a period bath to hold a shower curtain.
I have left it just as I found it with the ormolu warm old gold from the passage of time and it would polish as required.
The inner frame still hold the original textile and a hanging loop but these can be replaced with a chosen fabric.
The front gilded ribbed band carries a central rose garland with ribbon ties and beautiful rose swag mounts held in place with decorative medallions.
The canopy measures:
Width 27\" (69cms)
Depth extends forwards from the wall 14.5\" (37cms)
Height max at front cartouche 6.5\" (17cms)
All good and strong it is a stunning chateau decorative confection.
