Antique documents and manuscripts make the most wonderful display pieces and are excellent framed.
This antique French vellum document is dated 11 Juillet 1783 and appears to be a land or property document.
The pages are waxy vellum and they are joined with vellum twine.
The sepia ink script is wonderfully scrolled and curled and the top of the first 2 pages has a decorative law stamp for CAEN with Fleur de Lys and plumes.
There are various names mentioned including a Seigneur (Lord), a Baron.
Each of the 4 pages has script on each side and the last page has an array of scrolled signatures.
When closed the document measures 10\" x 7.75\"
Just to think that when this document was written Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette reigned at Versailles.
