Splendid GeorgeIV Military Interest Hallmarked Solid Sterling Silver Snuff Box made by Ledsam & Vale.
Description - Superb rectangular solid silver snuff box with hinged lid and foliate thumb piece, the snuff box has nice engine turned decoration to the lid , sides and base with a central catouche with engraved initials. The interior is silver-gilt (Gold washed) and has the engraved inscription \"Colonel P.L.M Wright. ID. from theWarwickshireYeomanryOld Comrades Association 1945 - 1950\".
The box is fully hallmarked with the anchor for Birmingham assay, the lion passant indicating 925 grade solid sterling silver, the King\'s head, the date letter \"D\" for the year 1827 and the makers mark \"L & Co\" which is Ledsam & Vale.
Condition - There are some dints on the lid\'s interior. Other than that, the box is in very good condition there are no dents, dinks, splits, holes and repairs, the hinge is in excellent order closing the box tight, the engraving is in very good order and there is no loss of interior silver-gilt, which is nice and bright.
Dimensions & Weight - The box is 8cm wide x 4.4cm long,the weight is 93.3 grams.
