This is superb antique hallmarked solid sterling silver jug measuring 5" (13 cms) across the top including the handle x 5 1/2" (14 cms) high to the spout and hallmarked for London 1845 with the silversmiths mark for George Frederick Pinnell. The jug weighs 297 grams with no damage that I can see. Underneath bears the inscription 'Presented by the Proprietors of the Andover Gas Company to Mr James Pearse in testimony of their esteem and appreciation of his zealth attention as a member of the Managing Committee, May 1846' - please scroll down to see photos and email if you have any queries - all questions will be answered between 9 am and 6 pm UK time.
