This is a superb pair of Victorian Staffordshire pottery Pug dogs dating from around 1880\'s-90\'s.
These adorable dogs are a very rare thing as most Staffordshire dogs are Spaniels.They have seperate legs and hand painted decoration with only the gilding on the collars worn.The dog on the left of the photo has had a bash on its back which has caused cracks to radiate out but fortunately they are around the back,not seen when displayed and don\'t affect the stability of the pottery.the second dog (on the right of the photo) has a re-glued leg,this has happened along time ago and is perfectly sound. The dogs are a lovely size for display measuring 9 inches high and have a very proud demenour which is characteristic of the breed and show how Pugs used to look over a century ago.
A gorgeous pair of antique Pugs that would grace any collection.
