This is a superb gothic relief carved wooden oak corbel with the leaf & berry carvings of which:
During our research we have been informed it certainlydates from the early period of the 19th century.
Dates about c1820s.
In an oak.
Of a European origin.
This and one other, to be listed, a pair of a left & a right, would have been part of the architecture of a church or house of religion during the said period.
Superbrelief carved gothic corbel with the relief carvings of leaves and berry carvings.
Flat backed for wall mounting.
It hasan overall length of about 28inches.
Max width at the base area of about 3.5inches.
Max depth of about 1.75inches.
Condition: Considering the age, the overall condition is excellent and is without any major blemish except:
there is a repair through the third cluster of leaves and berries where it had come apart at some stage. Has had two screws inserted into the flat area to support the repair.
