Description Asuperb early-dated Englishantique18th Century George IIsolid sterling silverbun pepper potby the silversmith \"DG\" and with full English silver hallmarks for London 1741. Excellent qualitygenuine 274 year oldsterling silver example, withits original tight-fitting pull-off silver pierced lid and decorated with handsome reeded edge rims. Beautiful engraved with alovely original perioddecorated monogram and the year date 1742.

MeasurementsMeasures approx.3.45 inches (85mm) inheight,and is1.85 inches (45mm) in diameter.

Date English antique18th Century George IIsolid sterling silver,with a full set of English silver hallmarks for London 1741, (date letter \"f\"). Also stamped with an early lion passant/gardantsterling silver mark and alsothe crowned leopards head stamp of the London assay office.No marks on the pierced lid, but again quite normal and is almost certainly the original.

Maker silversmiths initials \"DG with a star above and below\", couldn`t find the maker but well worth researching.

ConditionLovely antique condition,and ready to be used. Nosplits or cracksand no nasty knocks or dents, a few minor little surface bruises, nothing much.Tiny little old seam repair on the body and the edge rim, again nothingat all bad, see lastphoto for a close-up shot.The pierced silver pull-off lid has no damage to the pierced work and is almostdefinitely the original and isthe perfect tight fit.
