SUPERB HANDED PAIR OF EARLY ROBERT MOUSEMAN THOMPSON ASHTRAYS A truly delightful pair of Mouseman ashtrays with a left facing mouse on one & a right facing mouse on the other.
They are quite early judging by the patina and have been well used in a time period when they were intended for everyday use and nothing more and were of no percieved value
They have also been regularly well polished as the condition of the lovely aged oak shows
The mice appear to have been carved by the same hand and are good & plump with clear whiskers ( slight deformation of one ear but from the original time period so not \'damage\')The cigarette rests also appear to be hand cut rather than those on later pieces, as they are somewhat irregular in their appearance
If you are looking for new & unused, don\'t buy these - there are plenty of newer ones around
If, like me, you want and appreciate the patina of true age and use from their original time, then these are for you. It is also extremely rare to find a \'handed\' identical pair from this period.
