SUPERB HAND PAINTED 1917 SCOTTISH ANTIQUE JEWELLERY BOX- FAB INTERIOR

You are offerding on a WONDERFUL 19chand painted and japanned sycamore restored and repolished jewellery box. Datesapproximately 1910/1917.

In WONDERFUL restoredcondition.

No missing or replaced timber.Minor scratches and bruises as expected for it great age but a really terrificbox.

This is a once off box and inpretty good order for its age.

The box is made from sycamorethen black lacquered to each side. The top is hand painted, and dated at theback for 1917. The painted cartouchespell \'LETTERS\'

This is a really special andquite RARE box. Naively painted but romantic in every way. The box was producedwithin the years of World War1, and used to store letters. There is a roundstamp mark now obscured to the base which says \'made in Scotland\'.

We have French polished thetop and rewaxed sealing in the patina. This should ensure that the box wearsreally well for the future.

Displays wonderful colour.The pictures really do not do it justice.

The lid opens fully to reveala wonderful interiorthat boasts a later wooden tray finished to a superb standard that compliments.This has been relined in expensive velvetmaterial of thehighest quality, the same as the interiorof the box.

All the added dividers withinthe tray can easily be repositioned or removed if desired. The tray can holdmany rings in an upright position.

Underneath the additionaltray and beneath the base of the box have also been lined in velvet to stop anyscratches to other surfaces.

A superb box, and would make a fantasticgift.
