SUPERB Large Russian Silver and Enamel Antique Applique:

A SUPERB 17th century style gilded silver and shaded cloisonne enamel applique

Moscow, circa 1900, unmarked

Although the applique is not marked, it is without doubt the work of the most famous Russian enameler Feodor Ruckert,

elaborately decorated with two stylized birds and floral designs, set with two cabochon garnets and a cabochon amethyst.

Wire attachments on the back indicates that the applique was once mounted, probably on a folio.

Weight 6,3 oz. (178 g). Height 5 3/4in. (14,5 cm). Length 9 1/4 in. (23,4 cm). Condition: excellent.
