This is asuperb gothic parian jug or pitcher with the pewter lid of which:
during our research we have been informed itcertainly dates from the mid 19th century.
Dates c1852.
Underneath the english registration mark for c1852.
Of anan english origin.
Pitcher or jug with the parian white colouring and:
gothic decoration around the circumference of:
the head of the horned green man under the spout with another to the base of the handle with the sheep\'s head above.
Cherub figures with classical female children around the circumference.
To the top: the pewter hinged lid with the thumb finial to the back of the lid with incised mark of:
Broadheath & Atkin.
Decorative handle.
Overall max dia inc handle and spout of about 6.75inches.
Overall height of about 8inches.
Max overall dia of the base of about 3inches.
Condition:considering the age, the overall condition is excellent and is not subject to any major blemishes.
