This is a superb Staffordshire horned black & white cow creamer, recumbent calf & milkmaid of which:
During our research we have been informed it certainlydates from the mid 19th century.
Date about c1860s.
Wonderfulcolouring & portrayal of the horned cow with the black & white colouring.
Separate legs.
Under the cow, on a grassy base, a recumbent calf.
To the cows rear: the female milkmaid with her arm leaning on the back of the cow.
She carries a pail on her head.
Mounted onto the decorative grassy oval base.
The pail on the head of the female is used as a filler for the cream/milk.
Open mouth to cow for pouring.
It has an overall height of about 9.25inches.
Overall size of the hollow base of about 7 x 2.5inches.
Max overall dia of about 11.25inches.
Condition: Considering the age: the overall condition is excellent with no major blemishes except:
the female has had early restoration to her arm and pail.
Minor grazing to her face.
Due to age: areas of overall fine crazing.
