This is a quite superb Staffordshire black & white seated spaniel dog with russet red & white recumbent puppy of which:

during our research: we have been informed it dates from themid 19th century:

dates about c1850s.

Features in the Staffordshire A-Z dogs by Clive Mason Pope with reversed colours.

Russet red & white parent & black & white puppy is certainly more common.

Date c1855

Wonderful portrayal of the Staffordshire seated parent spaniel dog.

Black & white in colour with:

the recumbent russet red & white puppy with its wonderful portrayal.

Mounted onto the cobalt blue base with the fine gilt band to the front.

It has an overall height of about 6.5inches.

Underneath the hollowed base, with an overall size of about 5 x 2.75inches.

Condition: Considering the age: the overall condition is excellent with:

no major blemishes except:

a chip above an eye of the parent dog.

Due to age: overall fine crazing with:

ageing.

All as perpictures.

Besides being a very collectable, mid 19th centuryStaffordshire black & white seated spaniel dog with recumbent russet red & white puppy dog, mounted onto the blue cobalt base, c1855, would also look fabulous displayed.
