SUPERB PAIR: 19thC STAFFORDSHIRE COWS & SUCKLING CALVES WITH SPILL VASES c1880s:

This is a superb pair of large: Staffordshire horned russet red & white cows with the suckling calves and large spill vases to the rears, mounted on the decorative bases of which:

During our research we have been informed they certainlydate from the 19th century.

Date about c1880s.

A left & a right.

Pottery.

Wonderful portrayal of the horned cows with the russet red & white colouring.

Lustre coloured horns.

To the front of the cows, each has a suckling calf.

To the rears: the large decorative spill vases.

Mounted onto the decorative grassy oval bases with the stream running through.

Lustre band to the front of the bases,

Each has an overall height of about 11.25inches.

Overall sizes of the hollowed bases of about 8 x 4.5inches.

Condition: Considering the age: the overall condition to both is excellent with no major blemishes except:

one has a glue repair to a horn.

Due to age: both are subject to minor areas of loss of colour.

All as perpictures.
