This is a superb pair of large Staffordshire russet red & white horned cows with suckling calves, spill vases to the rears with their wonderful portrayals, of which:
During our research we have been informed they certainlydate from the mid 19th century.
Date about c1860s.
Staffordshire, Englandorigin.
A left and a right.
A wonderful portrayal of the horned cows with the suckling calves.
Each having russet red & white decoration and wonderful facial detailing.
To the rears: the large spill vases.
Pottery.
Mounted onto the decorative grassy bases with the streams to the fronts.
Each has an overall height of about 10.5inches.
Max basesizes ofabout 8 x 4inches.
Max dias of about 9inches.
Condition: Considering the age: the overall condition to both is excellent and both are without any major blemish.
Due to age: one has rubbing to the gilt band to the front.
