This isa superb pair of Staffordshire male & female vendor figures of a male & female with the donkeys ofwhich:

During our research we have been informed they certainlydate from the mid 19th century.

Date about c1860s.

Pottery.

A left & a right.

Pair of male and female vendor figurines with the donkeys.

Both in wonderful dress attires with intricate facial detailing.

Both are portrayed standing in front of the donkeys, each holding wares of harvest and other with their other arms to the front of the bodies.

Mounted onto the decorative oval hollow bases.

Intricate overall detailing.

One base has Beesums, other is blank but is known as Sand.

Each hasan overall height of about 8inches.

Max overall size of the hollow bases of about 8 x 3.75inches.

Condition: Considering the age: the overall condition to both is excellent and both are not subject to:

any major blemishes except:

one of the girls feet has chipping to the front, under the glaze which is therefore from the time of manufacture as is the firing crack to same on the top of the base.

same to the arm of the male.

A rear leg of the donkey, with the attached tail, (female), has a chip to the rear with the loss of..

Due to age: minor areas of loss of colour.
