SUPERB PAIR: MID 19thC STAFFORDSHIRE SEATED BLACK & WHITE SPANIEL DOGS c1860s:

This is a superb pair of Staffordshire seated black & white spaniel dogs with the wonderful facial decoration of which:

During our research we have been informed they certainlydate from the mid 19th century.

Date about c1860s.

Staffordshire, Englandorigin.

One has an embossed mark underneath which we think is a 4. A size number which the embossed 4, does certainly confirm their heights.

A wonderful portrayal of the seated spaniel dogs with:

the black & white decoration and facial detailing.

Gilt collars and locks.

Pottery.

Hollowed bases with one having the embossed number 4 underneath which relates to their sizes.

Each has an overall height of about 7.25inches.

Max basesizes ofabout 5.5 x 2.75inches.

Condition: Considering the age: the overall condition to both is excellent with both having no major blemishes except:

one has a minor and fine hairline to the rear foot and to the back centrally.
