This is a quite superb pair of gothic wooden oak male & female figurine corbels of which:
During our research we have been informed they certainlydate from the mid 19th century.
Date about c1860s.
Of a Black Forest origin.
The last of similar.
Superb oak relief carved corbels.
Medieval figures.
Standing male knight figure with shield.
Standing female figurine clasping book in her hands.
Decorative gothic carvings to the bases with the decorative carved tops.
Both are carved in relief, therefore one piece carved oak corbels.
Each has an overall height of about 17inches.
Size of decorative area of tops of about 3 x 2.5inches with the bases having sizes of similar.
Condition: Considering the age, the overall condition to both is excellent and both are not subject to any blemishes.
The male has one foot showing...this is at it should be and there is no evidence of a second foot coming adrift..
