- You are offerding on a superbquality antiqueChinese export porcelainRose Medallionteapot with the original lid, cup and basket.
- A welcome addition to your antique Chinese porcelain collection or a very special gift! The set not only has a gorgeous ornate teapot but also includes the matching lid & cup, as well asthe original insulated wicker basket.
- The basket measures approx. 9 3/4\" wide by 7 3/4\" tall by 7 1/4\". The tea pot measures approx. 5 3/4\" tall by 4 3/4\" diameter. The lid measures approx. 3 3/8\" diameter. The cup measures approx. 1 5/8\" tall by 2 3/8\" diameter.
- This is afine example of Rose Medallion/Famille Rose1800\'s export ware. The teapot, lid and cup are densely painted in vibrant polychrome enamels with an ornate floral backgroundand alternatingfigural& floral panels. The design is hand painted in beautiful colors ofgreen, pink, gold,yellow, red &blue and covers the entire teapot! The design incorporates human figures, birds, butterflies, bats, scrolling, leavesand roses & other flowers. The detailsof the bird cameos, butterflies and bats are amazing!
- The teapot is very detailed& ornateas well asheavy in weight. This is an authentic antique not a modern reproduction. The bowl is from the estate of a retired antique dealer from Scotland and has been in the family for approx. 75 yrs. This is the second piece of Rose Medallion we have sold from this estate, the other piece was a large punch bowl. - The handwoven basket is in very good condition for its age. It has a brass latch on the front and brass rings on the back that work as hinges for the lid. There are also 2 brass handles atop of the lid. The interior of the basket is insulatedwith batting& lined with silk.There is some wear to the interior due to the age of the basket and the fragility ofnatural silk.
- This item is an estate piece and it is in excellent condition for its age of well over 100 years. There are no chips, crack or repairs. We would remind buyers that this item is antique & pre-owned with associated surface wear that does not detract greatly from what is a scarce example of its kind. There is some very minor gold wear on the spout and where the handle attaches to the teapot consistent with the age & use of the piece. There is a very small line on the rim of the teapot from the time of original production (see photo #7).This is us nitpicking, we are simply trying to be as specific as possible for our customers.
