PLEASE BEWARE OF COPYCATS BEARING FALSE PROVENANCE: Following the success of the sale of my collection of Pompeii fresco pieces, it has been brought to my attention that a number of dealers on the internet are suddenly offering fresco pieces reportedly \"from Pompeii\". However, of those I have seen so far, NONE of their fresco pieces - in my opinion - are from Pompeii nor even close, but are most likely from the major river valleys of Germany or Bulgaria where there was significant Roman activity and where there are still a huge number of roman buildings to this day. Compare other pieces with mine - they look different because they ARE different.

There are at least 4 ways to tell a genuine Pompeii fresco piece from a fresco found elsewhere (I\'ll not list them all here so as not to arm others with the information), but one point is that the genuine and legally-obtained Pompeii pieces are all muted soft colours - not bright nor garish. Even the famous \'Pompeii Red\' colour actually appears more as a lightish soft pink on the genuine Pompeii pieces.

So as the saying goes \"Buyer Beware\" and do please consider things carefully. My fresco pieces have a provenance going back 100 years, and I acquired the majority of them from the biggest and most highly-respected antiquities dealer in the UK, whose sale rooms regularly sell very important and valuable antiquities to museums and private collections around the world.
