THIS IS A SUPERB ANTIQUE RUSSIAN CIGARETTE OR Tobacco CASE. THIS HINGED CASE IS COVERED WITH FINELY DETAILED NIELLO DECORATION. THE TOP HAS A SCENE OF A MAN DRIVING A TROIKA. THE BACK IS ENGRAVED WITH A NAME IN THE CENTER. THIS CASE MEASURES 5 INCHES LONG BY 2.5 INCHES WIDE AND IS 1&3/16 INCH THICK. IT WEIGHS 166.7 GRAMS OR 5&3/8 TROY OUNCES. THE CASE HAS A GILT INTERIOR. IT IS HALLMARKED WITH THE NUMBER 84 AND HAS THE ASSAY MARK AND THE SILVERSMITHS MARK AS SHOWN. IT IS DATED 1872. THIS CASE IS IN EXCELLENT USED CONDITION WITH SOME LIGHT SCRATCHES ON THE TOP.
