This is asuperb very large parian jug or pitcher with the boy figures bird nesting decoration and winged eagles defending nests of which:
during our research we have been informed itcertainly dates from the mid 19th century.
Dates about c1860s.
Unmarked but certainly of a European origin.
A very large parian pitcher or jug with the intricate detailing and decoration around the circumference of:
the boy figures bird nesting.
One boy has a bow, other a sharp implement.
Both are bird nesting with the two nests, one with eggs, other with young birds.
A pair of eagles defending the nests and attacking the boy figures.
Both are portrayed climbing on the rockery outcrops.
Decorative handle.
Overall max dia inc handle and spout of about 9.25inches.
Overall height of about 12.25inches.
Max overall dia of the base of about 7inches.
Condition:considering the age, the overall condition is excellent and is not subject to any major blemishes except:
it has a chip to the upper rim towards the spout.
