A magnificent example of a writing slope that also doubles as a reading slope from the reign of George 111, these slopes were made from 1790 - 1810.
In great shape, made from solid mahogany, the slope is untouched, in its original condition, apart from the new professionally re leathered writing surface to enable the lucky buyer and their families to use the slope for a further 200 years

The lateral drawer released from inside for document storage
The brass lifting handles, the slope is quite heavy
The hinged angle support to convert to reading slope
Georgian key provided but does not engage the lock, so, for display purposes only
The slope opens and closes on its original hinges as the day it was made
Complete with inkwell and ink dip pen.
The original,detachable,book \"support\" when used as a reading slope has been lost over the ages, this is a later support devised by one of its owners.
